(c) The certificate may be a self-signed certificate not provided by a Certification Authority.

Regulation (EU) 910/2014 (eIDAS) and the Policies of all PCSCs, establish the obligation to verify if a certificate or a signature is legally valid before you place your trust in her. El Reglamento (UE) 910/2014 (eIDAS) y las Politicas de todos los PCSC, establecen la obligación de verificar si un certificado o una firma es legalmente valida antes de que deposites tu confianza en ella.
